Orthopedic doctor for Vapi patients: planning your Surat visit step by step
There is no clinic in Vapi. Dr. Aman Khanna sees patients at Mahavir Health Campus, Ring Rd, Athwa Gate, Surat, and any operation is done there. This page follows the trip in order, from deciding whether to come to getting home afterwards.
Injuries and emergencies do not wait for an OPD day
For a fresh injury, a visibly deformed limb or a suspected fracture, go to the nearest emergency department first. Everything below assumes a planned visit.
Go to an emergency department immediately for back pain with new weakness in a leg, loss of control of urine or stool, or numbness around the groin.
Decide whether a surgical opinion is needed
A surgical opinion is worth the journey when one of these applies:
- A knee or shoulder injury where an MRI shows a torn ligament, meniscus or rotator cuff. See ACL reconstruction, meniscus surgery and rotator cuff repair.
- A fracture treated elsewhere that is not healing as expected. See fracture and trauma care.
- Back pain that travels down a leg, or neck pain with arm symptoms, that has not settled with treatment. See spine surgery.
- Hand or wrist numbness at night, or a stiff finger, that limits grip at work. See hand, wrist and elbow surgery.
- Hip or knee pain where X-rays show advanced wear, or where avascular necrosis of the hip is suspected. See knee replacement and hip replacement.
Surgery is not assumed. After examination and a look at your imaging, the plan may be physiotherapy, a change in work duties or further tests. A second opinion on an operation advised elsewhere is also a fair reason to come.
Book a day that suits your work
Where and when
Mahavir Health Campus, Ring Rd, Athwa Gate,Surat 395001, Gujarat, India
OPD: Mon–Sat 4:00–6:00 PM · By appointment
How to book
Send a preferred day on WhatsApp and the team will propose a slot. If you work shifts, say which days you can travel. WhatsApp is for booking only; the examination happens at the OPD. X-rays and blood tests can be done at Mahavir Health Campus the same day, before the OPD.
Pack the papers
- Every X-ray film, MRI disc or report you have, with dates, even if they look old.
- Discharge papers or an operation note if you were treated in a hospital in Vapi, Mumbai or elsewhere.
- A list of current medicines, any allergy, and any long-standing illness such as diabetes or high blood pressure.
- For a work injury, a few lines on what you were doing when it happened and what your duties are now. It helps in judging when a return to work is reasonable.
The first visit
Dr. Khanna asks how the problem began, examines the joint or limb and reviews your scans. The outcome may be a physiotherapy plan, a test, advice about work duties, or an operation. If an operation is advised, the plan, the likely stay in hospital and the dates are explained before you commit.
If surgery is advised: dates, stay and time off work
Ask three things at the consultation: how many days you will be in hospital, when a family member needs to be present, and how long you are likely to be away from work. If your job involves lifting or standing for long hours, say so, because it changes the answer.
The cost guide lists what an estimate covers. No figure appears here, and the estimate comes after the consultation.
Going home to Vapi
The surgeon tells you when you can travel home. Leave Surat with your discharge papers, written exercise instructions and the date of the first check-up. Patients from Vapi who have had an operation usually stay in Surat until the first dressing check, about a week after surgery, so plan the stay and a family member to be with you for that time. Stitches are usually removed near home by a local doctor with Dr. Khanna's written instructions, or at the check in Surat. Tele-follow-up is offered for some reviews (Reg. no. G-30260), and the surgeon says which ones. After surgery, a fever, a wound that leaks, a calf that is swollen and sore, chest pain or trouble breathing need the nearest hospital at once. Do not use WhatsApp for an emergency. The page for Valsad patients describes follow-up and physiotherapy after returning home in more detail, and the same steps apply from Vapi.
Questions from Vapi patients
Does Dr. Aman Khanna have a clinic in Vapi?
No. He sees patients only in Surat, at Mahavir Health Campus, Athwa Gate, Monday to Saturday, 4 to 6 PM, by appointment. Surgery is also done in Surat.
Can I get a diagnosis on WhatsApp before I travel from Vapi?
No. WhatsApp is for booking a day and asking which documents to bring, and a diagnosis needs an examination at the OPD. For severe pain, a fresh injury, a deformity or being unable to bear weight, go to the nearest emergency department instead of waiting for an appointment.
I was told to have surgery by a doctor in Vapi. Can I get a second opinion?
Yes. Take the scans and the doctor’s notes to the OPD, and the advice is checked against your examination. You may be told to go ahead, to try another approach first, or to have a further test.
How much time off work should I plan?
There is no single figure, because it depends on the operation and on your job. Ask for an estimate for your case at the consultation, and mention it if the work involves lifting or long hours of standing.
Can any follow-up be done by tele-consultation from Vapi?
Tele-follow-up is offered for some reviews (Reg. no. G-30260), and the surgeon says which ones. Others, such as the first dressing check about a week after surgery, are done in person in Surat.
What if I have a problem after surgery when I am back in Vapi?
Head for the nearest hospital the same day if you have a fever, a wound that leaks, a sore swollen calf, chest pain or trouble breathing. Routine questions wait for your follow-up visit.
