Orthopaedic & Sports-Injury Services in Surat
From arthroscopic knee and shoulder surgery to complex trauma and deformity correction — care built on training, plain explanation and guided recovery.
Knee & Shoulder Arthroscopy
Arthroscopy uses small incisions and a camera to diagnose and treat joint problems — often meaning less soft-tissue disruption than open surgery, and a more predictable recovery path for suitable cases.
Used to investigate and treat persistent knee or shoulder pain, locking, instability or swelling that hasn't resolved with rest and physiotherapy. Expect a same-day or short-stay procedure, followed by a structured rehabilitation plan discussed in advance.
- Meniscus tears (repair or trim)
- ACL and ligament reconstruction
- Cartilage assessment & treatment
- Rotator cuff repair
- Shoulder instability & labral repair
- Loose body / synovitis removal
As with any surgery, arthroscopy carries risk — infection, stiffness or incomplete relief of symptoms are possible. Suitability is assessed individually at consultation.
Sports Injuries
Injuries from sport, gym training or an awkward fall — assessed and managed with a plan matched to how active you want to return to being.
Not every sports injury needs surgery. Many respond well to structured physiotherapy and load management; others — particularly complete ligament tears or recurrent instability — benefit from surgical reconstruction. Both paths are discussed honestly, with the trade-offs of each explained plainly.
- ACL tears & instability
- Meniscus injuries
- Rotator cuff tears
- Shoulder dislocation & instability
- Tendon & ligament sprains
- Return-to-sport rehabilitation planning
Joint Preservation & Osteotomy
For early-to-moderate joint wear concentrated on one side of the knee, realigning the joint can offload the damaged area and delay or avoid joint replacement.
An osteotomy reshapes and realigns bone near a joint, shifting weight-bearing away from a worn compartment. It's considered for younger, active patients with localised arthritis where replacement may be premature, weighed carefully against the alternative of continued conservative management or eventual joint replacement.
- High tibial osteotomy (knee realignment)
- Distal femoral osteotomy
- Malalignment correction
- Cartilage-preserving surgery
Osteotomy is bone surgery with a real recovery period and does not guarantee avoidance of future joint replacement — it aims to delay it and improve function in the meantime.
Deformity Correction
Correction of angular and rotational limb deformities in children and adults, including Blount's disease — an area Dr. Khanna has published on.
Bowed or knock-kneed limbs, growth-related deformities and post-traumatic malalignment are assessed with clinical exam and imaging, then corrected surgically where growth modulation or bracing alone isn't sufficient.
- Blount's disease (published work)
- Genu varum / genu valgum (bow legs / knock knees)
- Growth-plate guided correction in children
- Post-traumatic malunion correction
Complex Trauma & Fractures
Fracture and trauma care handled at Akash and Prish hospitals — from straightforward fractures to complex, multi-fragment injuries.
Trauma cases are assessed urgently, with fixation method (plates, nails, external fixators) chosen on the specifics of the fracture and the patient. Complex trauma carries inherent risks of delayed union, infection or stiffness, which are discussed as part of informed consent.
- Long-bone fractures (femur, tibia, humerus)
- Peri-articular & intra-articular fractures
- Non-union & malunion revision
- Polytrauma orthopaedic management
Limb Lengthening — via Living Taller
